FAQs

Delivery

To find out, enter your zip code in the sidebar at the top of the website. You think we deliver to your postal code, but we tell you we don't? The application is sometimes lacking. Write to us at info@reservelocale.ca and we will find a solution.

We deliver locally in Quebec and send packages outside the National Capital with dry ice, through our partner carrier. Order before Monday 11 p.m. to access the Thursday delivery which arrives.

No problem, but we cannot guarantee a precise delivery time. The carrier will arrive before 6 p.m. You will receive the delivery time the same morning of dispatch.

If you are in a condo or apartment, you absolutely must be present for the delivery.* If the delivery person does not have access to the entrance hall, he will leave with your package and deliver the next day. We cannot guarantee that your products will always be frozen.

If you want the box to be left in a particular place (hide it, ring a neighbor's doorbell, etc.) You can give us more details in the “delivery person details” section when you place your order.

Here are some ideas that might help:

- Ask a neighbor to collect your order and write their address in the delivery instructions.
- Ask your concierge to take the box for you, mentioning this in the instructions to the delivery person.
- Have your box delivered to work.

* The delivery time will be sent to you the morning of dispatch, stay tuned!

If you think you will have to be absent during the delivery to an apartment/condo, contact customer service at 418-317-9400 at least 24 hours in advance.

**Our package shipping policies state that we are not responsible for thawed products if the delivery person was unable to access your apartment or lobby during the first delivery. You choose your delivery day yourself to avoid this problem. Thank you for understanding.

If you live in a house, the package will be left at the door.

No, all our orders are placed online on our website, and we deliver directly to you! Our delivery times do not suit you? Have your order delivered to one of our partner drop-off points!

Our insulated boxes and dry ice will keep your products frozen until they are received. However, we do not know in what condition the box will be left at your door. If it is in the sun, the shelf life of the ice will decrease. Do you think you will be absent during delivery? Tell us a place where we could leave the box in the shade in the delivery instructions !

If you are in a condo or apartment, refer to the point above.

However, if you want the box to be left in a particular location (hide it, ring a neighbor's doorbell, etc.), you can give us more details in the “delivery person details” section when you place your order.

Here are some ideas that might help:

- Ask a neighbor to collect your order and write their address in the delivery instructions.
- Ask your concierge to take the box for you, mentioning this in the instructions to the delivery person.
- Have your box delivered to work.

If you think you will have to be absent during the delivery to an apartment/condo, contact customer service at 418-317-9400 at least 24 hours in advance.

Orders are delivered between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. for the Quebec region and between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. for Montreal, all other regions served.

Our prices and quality are comparable to those of specialized grocery stores, but we offer delivery, in addition to guaranteeing products from Quebec farms only.

Products

We offer several certified organic products, but not all of our products are certified organic. All products that are organic carry the words “organic” in their title.

Organic certification is extremely expensive for producers. So, for now, we are looking more at the farming and breeding practices of our suppliers than organic certification. However, we have organic pork and chicken! With the exception of our MSC certified fish, 100% of our products from Quebec!

With the exception of our MSC certified fish, our products are 100% (and proudly!!) Quebecois!

If you click on the product, a window will appear with a description, weight, ingredients and some details about the farm or fishery.

Quite ! On each product sheet, it is possible to find instructions on the internal cooking temperatures of the products as well as optimal cooking methods.

In Canada our meats are “antibiotic-free”. By law, all animals must undergo a withdrawal period before they can be processed for consumption.

There is a difference between “antibiotic-free” products and “raised without antibiotics” products. “Raised without antibiotics” means that the animals have never received antibiotics in their life.

We specify "added", because all animals contain natural hormones (like us). “Raised without added hormones” means that no additional hormones or growth promoters were given to the animal.

No, the expiry date on your product is that of the product if it had not been frozen. Our freezing and vacuum packaging technologies allow you to keep frozen products for more than 16 months.

Sometimes we run out of items, which requires us to modify the boxes. In some cases, we need to make last minute substitutions while we are packing the boxes. We know it's disappointing not to be able to completely fulfill your order, but we do our best to provide you with a suitable replacement.

First, please check if we have replaced the missing item with another or issued a credit. If we have done neither and it is an error on our part, please let us know and we will fix the problem.

An animal that is grass-fed means that it has spent its life grazing on grass in a pasture. Being a ruminant, beef does not have the capacity to properly digest the different grains that conventional farming offers it. A natural grass-fed diet produces leaner meat, richer in antioxidants and vitamins, and contains twice the omega-3 fatty acids than conventionally raised beef.

A chicken fed on vegetable grain will benefit from a diet consisting only of ingredients from premium vegetable sources, and in which no animal by-products will be added such as bone, feather or viscera meal.

Storage and box

Conservation Benefits

All our products are frozen and vacuum-packed. Freezing is an industrial technique that allows us to suddenly cool products by exposing them to temperatures of up to -50°C. In addition to extending the shelf life of the product, freezing preserves the nutritional properties of foods, their flavor and texture.

Reduction of food waste

Our products are packaged in individual portions, allowing you to defrost only what you need. A freezer full of good local products means fewer unexpected “take out” dinners and more healthy, home-cooked meals!

Although used interchangeably in everyday language, “freezing” and “deep-freezing” are two very distinct terms.

Freezing is a complex industrial technique which allows products to be suddenly cooled by exposing them to very low temperatures of up to -50°C. This technique allows the water in food to be transformed into ice very quickly.

As for freezing, it is a slow process that allows frozen foods to be kept at a low temperature before consumption. It cools food more slowly and at a lower temperature than freezing.

As long as they are kept at a stable freezing temperature and the vacuum seal is intact, products can last an average of 12 months in the freezer.

There are methods to avoid when defrosting your meats. Do not thaw your products at room temperature or in hot water, as this encourages the growth of bacteria. Additionally, meat can be defrosted in the microwave, but must be cooked quickly afterward. Ideal defrosting methods are in the refrigerator or in cold water. To find out more, see our defrosting guide.

Our facilities and suppliers have the required certifications to carry out processing and vacuum packaging. Vacuum packaging removes oxygen from the container or bag to prevent ice crystals from forming. In conventional freezing, it is these crystals which alter the texture of our foods and which make them ugly when cooked. You won't compromise on texture quality!

You can place the products you will consume soon in the refrigerator and the others in the freezer. Calculate approximately 24 hours to defrost your products in the refrigerator (depending on their weight). Once defrosted, products should be consumed within 3 to 5 days and within 3 days for seafood products.

Meats, poultry, game, sausages: 3 to 5 days

Fish and seafood: 2 to 3 days

Our boxes are 100% Quebecois, 100% made from recycled materials, 100% recyclable! ♻️

Orders for Montreal (and other regions than Quebec) are delivered with dry ice to ensure adequate freezing of the products. Upon receipt, the dry ice may no longer be visible, as it is generally packaged in tablets, not in plastic bags. If, however, pieces of dry ice remain in the package, it is wise to take precautions.

When you encounter pieces of dry ice, it is advisable to let them melt outdoors or indoors at room temperature, but be careful not to come into direct contact with them, especially with your hands and eyes. Dry ice releases carbon dioxide as a gas, and direct contact can cause numbness, burns or irritation.

Therefore, by taking care to follow these safety instructions, you will be able to enjoy your orders while maintaining the freshness of the products they contain.
